I have LOVED this blog for several months now because
a) we were considering buying a home and I LOVE a chance to redesign and decorate (plans have since changed) ;) and
b) we live in an apartment in uptown--meaning I have to use my space wisely and still have it feel like a home.

I have stayed away from friends blogs/facebook for the past few months because I was just too overwelmed with life. HOWEVER at night while Dan was watching football--I was surfing the net looking for new furniture designs and paint ideas. Then I found Holly!! I thought I would share it since my MIL asked me about some designing blogs and she really thought it was cute. So here she is---I love that paints half of her sons furniture with "chalk board paint" --this is my plan for Daniel's nursery too! I also love a little bit of orgainized clutter--though my husband is a neat freak. She is able to achieve this look in an orderly manner. I also like that she explains a lot of her creations--to the point where I might actually be able to accomplish them as well. Everything she does is very achievable and pretty cost effective. Bringing home a baby boy in a few months I wanted to have some new ideas as to how to do his nursery and how to redesign some of my space here. Plus she and I have the same throw pillows all over the house--so I liked her taste in farmhouse/eclectic design from the beginning. Enjoy!!

It's been awhile......

The Gibson life has been anything but calm since out last post about Jae Beth. She turned 1 year on Christmas Day!!!??!! I can't believe it's been a year since I gave birth to this chunk of joy! We've had so many 1st's in our lives since I last blogged that I can't even count them all or remember them! Jae had her 1st Halloween/Thanksgiving/and Christmas. Jae also had a special visit from Dan's Grandmother from Colorado for Thanksgiving! We had lots of ministry events, we learned how to keep some what of a social life and have a baby, Dan left the country with less than 24 hours notice, I found out I was expecting right before scheduling sinus surgery, and Dan moved back to the main campus for work. It's been very eventful! However did I let this time pass without blogging---I'll tell you how. I am a full time employee to my Lord/husband/baby/family/ministry/and my full time job. And at the end of the day I come home to just BE--I love on Jae and Dan--I have really let go of facebook and blogging and I have never felt more free. I would rather be a bad blogger than a bad mama any day! However--I do want to slowly start getting connected again--but VERY slowly. But even though I feel as though we are busy every waking minute of the day---we really wouldn't have it any other way---because this is the Lord's will for the moment ;). It's a season. One day I know the Lord will slow us down but that is not what He has for us as today. So we will just roll with it with a good attitude (try to at least)! I also had to stop nursing right after Jae Beth turned 10 months. I was getting nauseated from nursing while being pregnant and my supply dropped immediately after the nausea started. I was definitely more sad than Jae was about quitting--but my goal was 12 months or until the Lord stopped me from being able to-so I guess I met my goal. Plus Jae was ready for more ---just look at her---I think she was ready for table food the first day she met the world! Ok--so the point of this blog is to update friends/family/and a few strangers about Jae Beth and to blog the announcement that I am also expecting our 2nd baby. These two babies will be 18 months a part---so we are in for a wild ride! Here is Jae's QUICK update (we don't have her 1 year check up until mid January since she is on some medicine for her 1st ear ache--which happens to be a double ear infection). But here is her quick update month 7-11:

7 Months:

Still cute!

Jae spent 2 weeks with us in Florida! She loved it!

8 Months:

Yes Still Cute! And I turned 29!

9 Months:

Adorable still!! And started started to snuggle more!

10 Months:

Jae started to say a lot more this month. Stopped nursing and got sick for the FIRST time with allergies. She started eating more solids this month. Her teething got worse and she started to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to let us know she wasn't enjoying the teething. LOVES snuggling!!!

11 Months:

Jae got to start going to birthday parties/meeting and greeting lots of new friends at church/ and for the 1st time since she was born--she stayed with my mom for a weekend (which has happened a few time since!!!) She also took her first steps at 11.5 months.

I will update the blog for the 1 year soon---lots of FUN Christmas pictures and video!!

I am a bit behind on this blog this month. We have been busy these past 2 months with weddings/showers/ministry events. Jae got to meet some of her cousins for the first time, met my childhood friend Sarah's little girl, and was able to have a playdate with college friends. Jae Beth turned 6 months old on Friday (6.25.10). It really feels like yesterday that I was expecting this little chunk of joy! However I have been a little overwhelmed as of late. I think I have 5 full time jobs=wife/mother/sister/work/ministry. I am just now starting to feel like my old self again---old self =someone who can function fully in the real world again. I worked out for the 1st time since I had Jae this past week. My performance at the lake house badminton game is what prompted this "new" Janae initiative. As a matter of fact I still have 35lbs I should lose--I had no idea until I stepped back on the scale. I know since am nursing I will NOT diet---I have actually NEVER tried to lose a single pound my entire life---seriously--not once! So when people would talk about calories I was always lost. I wouldn't eat one oreo--I would eat the entire bag! I had this bad habit before I was expecting and after---until last week! The only time I have ever used a scale was when I was pregnant. BUT for the first time I have actually LOOKED at the back of a package before buying it!! Amazing--I had no idea how much sugar and sodium I take in every day!!! Having said all of this---the "new" Janae has worked out almost everyday since last week (love my sister who is my workout partner), cooked almost every night!, and been VERY tired! It's hard to come home after working all day to nurse,cook,spend time with Dan (my FAVORITE part of my day without of doubt),workout, and then try to clean something before bed. Not to mention--I have really had to stop couponing for awhile--it just took too much time--but I miss it dearly. So I have been a bit behind in a lot around here lately. So now I am really enjoying my life---because life is short---it's all about perspective--it's God's life that he has given me a short time to live. I want to be the best wife,mommy,sister, daughter, and friend I can be--but sometimes it's just about being with your husband and your baby! And that is where I am for today--I just have time for the 2 most important people in my life. Plus we are going to be at the beach for 2 weeks very soon---and we can't wait!!! Here is what is going on with my stocking stuffer this past month of life!

*6 month check up=18.12lbs. She has gone from 95% for weight to 93%--so I guess that means she isn't going to continue to be impossible to hold for long periods of time. Her weight has injured 4 family members backs now! bahaha.

*Jae is now a full fledged roller--she rolls over in her bed so much that she ends up on the opposite end of it each and every morning!

*Jae slobbers ALL the time-still!.

*Jae took her first bite of baby food on Father's day at the Gibson lake house---this was such a sweet memory for me to have!

*Jae is now somewhat regular with her pooping thanks to prunes--which she doesn't like at all--she now shudders to the taste!

*She still sleeps 8-10--however---this past week she has woken up 3 times at 3,4, and 6 am! She felt like she needed a snack I guess!?

*She still LOVES the church nursery and they still LOVE her ;)!

*Jae has always been a vocal baby-even from birth--but now she uses her "words" to command attention or to get a toy that she has dropped.

*She also LOVES to pull your face in for a big wet kiss after she has eaten or after you kiss her all over her face! You know that it's a kiss when she doesn't suck on your face and she just sits there and slobbers.

Dan first Father's Day he fed Jae Beth her first baby food--and she "kind of" liked it.

I loved that her face never was fully clean that day!

5 Months and counting....

Well our baby girl is 5 months old today. Normally, before I had a baby, I would think 5 months sounded like an eternity. But the past 5 months have flown by! I didn't post for her 4th month because I lost our camera--but it has now been found! So I need to catch everyone up!

*4 month check up stats: almost 17lbs and 26" long. She is greater than 95% for both weight and height. (no kidding my arms and back feel this anytime I hold her longer than 2 mintues!)

*The day Jae got her 4 month shots she went to our Sunday School cookout--what a trooper!

*Jae also was able to meet my good friends from high school--we had a mini-reunion! (as pictured)

*Jae squils ALL the time! I think she is going to be talking before she walks!

*Jae's hair still stands up in the back---but it is starting to lay down!

*No more swaddler since 3.5 months old!!! I was getting very frustrated with having to put our baby in this burrito every night. So I told Dan that when I returned from my overnight work related trip I was going to make her swaddle free. I prayed about it a few night before I left--and the night I had to spend away from her. I am not kidding---the NIGHT I returned she became swaddle free! PRAISE THE LORD!!

*She doesn't roll as much as she use to. Now she just grabs at the toys I place in front of her while she has tummy time.

*Jae slobbers ALL the time. We have to keep a bib on this girl 24/7!

*She is put down awake and falls asleep while sucking her ring and middle finger on her left hand. She stared doing this at week 13 I think.

*She sleeps 8-10 hours every night. That really hasn't changed---there was one night she slept almost 13 hours!

*She has outgrown MOST of her clothing--due to the fact her torso is super long (just like her Grammy,Grandmother,and Aunt Jill).

*She LOVES the church nursery and they LOVE her ;)!

*She is still on her schedule everyday. She wakes/eats/plays/sleeps every 3 hours--I love a girl who knows her schedule!

*She now sucks on her toes--this was HARD for me to get use to--now I think it is cute--however I am STILL germ concious so I try to wipe them off frequently with a baby wipe.

Grandmother

Saturday:9am (on the phone w/ Grandmother as she is walking lap 3 of 13 with my Granddad!)--Grandmother :"Well Janae, you know that Jae is just a "solid citizen" isn't she?" (referencing Jae's weight of 17lbs) HAHAHAHA!

Saturday: 2pm (in our home)--Janae: " Grandmother you are so blessed to not have dentures at your age---and your teeth are so pretty---I don't know anyone that still has their real teeth beyond 70". Grandmother: "Well I have been flossing since World War 2 (we all laugh)---Well I have!" Ha--we all giggled about this quote for about 10 minutes!

Saturday afternoon (in our home)---(scene: Jami is looking at her facebook) Grandmother: "Is that Dan in that picture?" Jami: "Grandmother! No that's me!"---hahahaha

Saturday 9pm (in our home)---Grandmother: " You know--I did something today that I wasn't sure about--but I did it. I was all alone and I did a cartwheel." Janae: "That doesn't surprise me you little cutie pie!" LOVE HER!!

BEST SATURDAY EVER!

Our Grandmother is the funniest and cutest person I have every known. She just gets me---and understands me without me having to say a word---and everything she says is so sweet and innocent--however---she makes the funniest comments!! I have to brag a bit--- She still works out everyday, eats well, loves loves all of her grand and great grand kids, and loves organizing and doing my dishes ;)---she never wants you to repeat something funny that she says and if you do she says " Now you don't have to tell everything you know (as she is laughing). " Whenever she says something so cute or funny--I usually have to squeeze her arm and kiss her cheeks--she is that cute! I think all of us grand kids feel the same way about her---we are truly blessed with a sweet Grandmother! Plus she is still a "little hottie" as Jami puts it!

These girls are my best friends! Not many sisters can also be best friends but we are! I also have best friends away from them---but there is just something about sisters. We know everything about one another and we still love each other so much! I love that we can be honest and direct--because we know it's all out of love. There really aren't many people on earth we can do that with. We fight--we love---we laugh (a lot!!)---we cry--we shop--we lay around and pig out on junk food--we vacation together----we talk about all of our big plans for the future--we all love fishing and bugs--and we all REALLY REALLY love babies ---and we are all three COMPLETELY the opposite of the other ...but we have 2 main things in common --our love for our family and most importantly we are all committed to the Lord! I love them dearly and I am so thankful the Lord gave them to me!

3 Months TODAY!!!!!!

3 months old!!!!!!

It has been 3 months since the day Jae was born. She was born on Christmas day and with all the complications of l&d recovery--family coming and going-and going back to work--it's all been a blur--UNTIL today. Today I felt like it was important be silent and remember all that the Lord has done for us. I didn't answer phones/respond to personal emails/ or turn on the TV--I soaked up everything moment of this time. We are truly blessed. As I sit back and think about how much has changed since meeting this little girl I can't help but remember each and every moment so clearly. The past three months have been some of the most precious and beautiful moments of my life. I cherish each and every moment I have with my daughter--even during the tough and yucky times---because I know she is a priceless gift from the Lord and I want to invest my best into her! I look at her and wonder if she'll be a big sister one day, an athlete, or a scholar (all 3 wouldn't be bad--I would be thankful for a college scholarship!!). I wonder if she'll be messy like me or organized like her daddy. I can't wait to start seeing her personality. But really what we pray for is that she will come to know the Lord as her savior at a young age so that she may experience eternal life and lead others to Him.

progress and development for our sweet family far far away:

When I say my baby girl is a good baby--yes maybe I am biased--but she is--I promise!!! Jae has really had a great sleep pattern since week 5.

She smiles a lot --at everything--and giggles at Dan almost every night.

She LOVES when you sing "itsy bitsy spider" after she rolls over.

She will reach for her toys-but isn't fully able to grasp them yet.

We take a stroll at least once a week to the west village for dinner---Jae just sleeps while eat good tex-mex!! (see Dan pictured for this stroll) We have also enjoyed strolling her down the Katy Trail in Uptown. She has become an urban Baby!!

She really loves having some alone time looking at her fan--you can actually lay her on her back in her crib and she will giggle with the fan.

Her schedule is eating every 3/4 hours. Eats/plays/sleeps. Just like that alllllllllll day long.

She sleeps around 8-9 hours every night-which I hear is great for a breastfed baby.
She has been smiling since week 5 as well. She also started rolling over at week 8. And now she lays in her little crib and watching her baby Einstein ocean life box and rolls over everyday.

She is in the 95% for both weight and height. She is around 15 lbs at 12 weeks--and has been in size 2 diapers for a few weeks---she is like her mama-she gains in her belly!!!

She LOVES talking with her daddy and enjoys talking with me. We get the best "girl talk" in on the changing table. She just stares at me--cocks her little head to the side--and squeals about something. I like to pretend she is telling me that my hair looks fabulous but I could use a bit more lip gloss or I imagine that she is telling me how horrible it is that she can't change her own diaper and can't wait until the day she is potty trained for her and for ME! Either way we have fun.

Yes her hair naturally stands straight up---this is from her daddy. I was told yesterday "at least she will have body in her hair and won't need a bump-it"! Ha-ha!

I pinch her cheeks every 2-3 seconds. I also kiss her ALL the time---she is so use to it now she puts her little mouth against my cheek. I LOVE IT!!

And Yes--I had her announcements done at 6 weeks and STILL--STILL have yet to actually send them out! Wow--I will at some point get my act together!

Jae also has really bonded with my sisters. They come to the apartment to watch her -Jami keeps her 2 days a week and Jill does the same. I feel better going back to work knowing that our family was caring for her. However Jami and Jill are polar opposites. So it's nice that Jae Beth gets to experience different personalities. Their are only two similarities with how they care for my baby---they LOVE HER TO DEATH and they keep her on our schedule which is awesome! Jami is super aggressive when it comes to her affection for Jae Beth. She literally attacks her--and for some reason Jae is ok with it. Jami is concerned and very excited about her development and works with her all day while she is here. Whether it is grabbing or responding to sounds--Jami is going to work with this girl. She even takes the time to study with her--Jami reads to her about whatever is in that MCAT book. Jill on the other hand is just very "sweet" with her. Jill gives her more attention that you can imagine---and when she rocks Jae to sleep it only takes a few moments. Jae really trusts Jill to care for her in a soothing sort of way. She also loves the sound of Jills voice--it paralyzes her--it's oh so cute! And Jae can't get enough of my Grandmother and Granddad! Grandmother had 6 so she knows how to care for this baby---and Granddad will sing and rock with her--oh so sweet to watch! My Grandmother and her even have the same feet--both have their 2nd toe longer than their 1st. Bev may also have this-I need to ask! I think I read somewhere that is the sign of a "strong" woman--I believe it! The 4th day of "child care" is what I call a "wild card" day. Right now my sweet Grandmother has agreed to watch her on this day. We do have a "plan". I say plan loosely because I have learned with my family and Dan's family---plans need to be held loosely--I like to think of it has allowing God to control things--and not Me! Anyway--our plan is for Grandmother to help on Thursdays until my mom gets out of school for the summer. She has offered to watch Jae 2 or 3 days a week in the summer time. So Jami would have her 3---Mom would have her 2---and Jill will be graduating from college in May and hopefully get her career in motion. So this Plan will be in affect until August 15th----then we will have to see. Our church childcare is on a 1 year waiting list! It's unbelievable--but I will just put this date in Gods' hands for now!

Happy 12 weeks baby girl---we love you and can't wait to see what the next 12 weeks bring!!!! I am in love!

Happy 5 Year Anniversary

Well Friday was a big day for us. 1) We celebrated 5 years of married bliss! 2) It was my Grandmother's birthday--and Thursday was my mom's birthday 3) I started back to work 4) my mom's house flooded! 5) Our Honda --2007 barely driven Honda--didn't start 6)I found out I have to go overnight on business in April and either take or leave my baby for one night. However crazy our little life is--I still thinks it's more beautiful to live in this chaos than to be bored wishing something new would happen to us ;). My mom came in last week to help prepare me to go back to work--and to watch Jae with my sisters Friday night so Dan and I could have a long date night. However at around 5:30 or so we found out that Mom's house was flooding --mom and Jill took off to Paris--Dan came home to hear the news. I told him we weren't going on a date---just then my grandparents walked in and discovered their stay would be short considering all that was happening. We all decided to go in to help mom around 8pm--then had to turn around realizing taking an 11 week old baby to help wouldn't be an option. So Dan turned around --dropped us off--and he and Jami headed to Paris to help salvage what they could. I spent a fun filled evening with my precious baby--and we celebrated my 5 year wedding anniversary. OH did I mention Dan gave me the sweetest card/letter and beautiful flowers! We had decided to get new couches and for go individual gifts this year. Anyway--I heard the door opening at 4am and Dan was home from the adventure. So we were able to celebrate our anniversary on Saturday--THANK YOU JILL!!! We had planned on going to SundaySchool/Church/and a Young Marrieds Lunch meeting today--however--Dan allowed me to sleep after I woke at 7:30 to feed Jae. So next weekend we will try all of this again. And to top it all--we woke up to SNOW?? What on earth is Spring doing producing SNOW???!!

6 weeks and counting.....

What a week! My sister-in-law Leslie came to visit us. Leslie is so calm in every situation so it was wonderful to have her here---she cleaned a bit/organized my kitchen and helped explain a few baby books so I didn't have to take the time to read them all. But most of all---was a fun friend to have join me. Dan even watched Jae Beth so she and I could go to a dinner with Dan's other amazing sister Sarah. We had such fun girl time!! Jae had her bronchoscopy this past Thursday. It was a very difficult thing for us to do--putting our baby under anesthesia and a doctors care without us standing over her. But we gave it to the Lord--and the results were that she would grow out of her stridor. Praise the Lord!!! We had to stay the night because of her age--and wow--were we glad to come home! 30+ hours in a hospital with a baby is NOT a fun thing. Our sweet pastors from FBCD came to visit at 6:30am before the surgery--and as we were checking out. We also had a sweet co-worker of mine stop by. She also threw Jae a shower back in December--we love Dianna! And my Granddad came by to see us--he has made hospital visits for over 50 maybe 60 years--I just wish it hadn't been his own family this time--but his presence always calms me. We left with the great news and with a happy little baby girl. Before the surgery she weighed in at 11.4lbs and 24 inches long at 5 weeks old. I think we have a big girl-- and she was so upset after the procedure that we had to hold her for 3 hours straight. Holding an almost 12 pounder with cords and oxygen is NOT easy! So thankful to be out of there! This past weekend we had my mom come in and my g-parents came over to play with Jae Beth so Dan and I could get away on a date. My mom is so selfless when she comes in--she just wants to do whatever we need for her to do--and that is to just love Jae Beth! She bathes her and rocks her, feeds her, rocks her, and allows Dan and myself to get away!! This gives me much needed relief from being tied to a nursing baby. She literally kicked us out of bed on Saturday to go to the Original Pancake House --then after my first hair cut in almost 4 months- and Dan's trip to Bass Pro-- after lunch at La Mad we went to NP to see that movie with Mel Gibson--the name escapes me a the moment. Anyway--had language but a good story line. We also had two visitors stop by this weekend--one of my best friends from DBU Liz and Brianna (a fellow Christian mother I met at work). Sunday we had Jae's baby pictures taken by a friend from DBU--we shot them in our apartment--we were thankful to have family there to help. It was a little chaotic but fun. Our life always seems so busy but so beautiful at the same time! And by the way-at 6 weeks old-this little girl smiles and laughs at her daddy every time they are together now! It's so fun to see this relationship they have-I can't wait to see who is going to try to date her one day--haha--no chance with Dan as her dad!

Jae Beth is 1 month old!!

Jae Beth was 1 month old this week! We are still so raw at parenting--we take things day by day--and sometimes I have to take things hour by hour. Taking care of a newborn is hard! Well this week was fun! She had such an eventful week too! Jae started sleep 5 and 5.5 hours last Saturday!!! Maybe this will continue?!? Jae smiled at me on Monday morning!! Two of my friends from college came over with their little girls. Berkely is 10 weeks, Brenley is 6 weeks, and Jae Beth is 4 weeks old. We tried to get a few pictures of them all together--but my daughter was trying to eat Brenely and Berkley wasn't having anything to do with it. It was so funny to watch!! We had such a good afternoon together! Also Jae got a visit from her Great Grandmother and Great Granddad. They are SO good with babies. Jae also had her 1 month check up yesterday. She weighed in at 11lbs even and 22 3/4 inches long. She is in the 90% for weight and 95% for length. Our pedi told us yesterday that they do not think she needs to be out of the house until 2.5 or 3 months old. I even asked if I could just cover her to go to target or better yet the mall. He said that he doesn't think it's the season to do this--and for sure not to take her to church. He said it's the season for bronchitis and rsv-I told him I knew--I sell a respiratory drug! I sighed and said ok. It's better to protect her the best I can at the moment--that's our job. Anyway-it has been a fun week--but we are really excited for the weekend because Jae Beth FINALLY gets to meet her Aunt Nessie!!!!!

Week 1
-Came home from the hospital on Sunday.
-Ended up going back to the doctor on Monday-due to no wet diapers--while at the doc my milk came in! But she lost 9% of her birth weight and we had to go back Wednesday to get her weight checked--she had successfully gained 6oz in 1 day!
-My mom,sisters, and bro stayed with us all week to help--which was MUCH needed!!
-We celebrated New Years with our baby girl
Week 2
-Bev (Dan's mom) came to stay with us--which was MUCH needed!! She even cleaned out our fridge and did some organizing and cleaning!!!
-Jae Beth had her 2 week check up--where she weighed in at 9lbs 7oz and 21 3/4 inches long. 90% for height and 75% for weight. This was also the appointment we discovered Jae Beth had stridor. Our doctor heard her nursing and she said "does she always sounds like that" we say "yep". She advised we go to a specialist to get her checked.
-We got out in the car with Jae for a couple of outings--never actually getting out of the car---but just driving around was nice!
-Dan had to go back to work mid week. ;)
-Her cord came off--in my friends lap--haha!!
-Jae got her social security card--she's now legit! I could have told the gov she was LEGIT before--trust me!!
-Our friends Kristen and Daniel came over to say hi--where they kept their adorable little girl Emily in jail (in her stroller) just to make sure little Jae didn't get any unwanted germs.
-Pace and Sarah came over to see Jae and we were able to say happy birthday to Pace--but we still have yet to give him his present!
Week 3
-Jae Beth and I ventured out on Tuesday morning to the ENT--I had to hold her down for a nasal scope--where they told us she would need surgery (which is where they will do a bronch scope and she will have to be put under)
-Wednesday morning at 8am we went to Children's Dallas to meet with an anesthesiologist and had her per-op exam.
-After this I made a 2nd opinion appt with another ENT in the area.
-This was over all a rough week---except that my sister Jill came over a couple of times to relieve me for a few moments so that I could pop in a load of laundry/take a shower/ and one day I even took a nap! Woo Hoo!!
-Jae Beth had her first bath!!
-The week ended well since my mom took off half a day on Friday ---and came to stay with us through Sunday Morning. Dan and I even had our first date since Jae Beth came into our lives. Thanks Mom!!!!

My husband graduated with his MBA last Friday!!! We calculated that he had been in school for 20 years straight!! He had been planning on starting his doctorate as soon as he graduated--that has now been put on hold until further notice--and I am THANKFUL for this!!! The Taylor's, my family, and Dan's parents were all there to watch him walk. Thankfully I didn't go into labor during or before this occasion! We are all so proud of his accomplishment--not just because he has his masters---but because he has had a very long 3 years attaining this degree. We are involved in Apartment Life--which takes approx. 70 hours per month, I was laid off then hired back this year, plus we are a close family and like to spend as much time with them as we can, we are expecting our first child this year, and we have to fit in fun time in there some where!! It's just been a long year for Dan and we are VERY proud of him!! Not to mention--his GPA was fabulous. I love that I married a hot Christian nerd! Dan's parents flew in to help celebrate--so we were able to go to his sister Sarah's house for an early Christmas. It's so nice to be around young kids at Christmas---they were so giddy about their gifts--I loved seeing there sweet faces!! So our weekend went as follows: Dan graduated, dinner with friends and family, Saturday breakfast with Dan's parents, full day at World Aquarium, dinner at Kirby's with Dan's parents to celebrate Dan, Sunday School Christmas party, Sunday=Gibson family Christmas. Ok--so in the middle of the graduation it was around 3:30 and I had not eaten lunch--I look down the row and Don (Dan's dad) saved me some crackers!! I ate them in about 5 minutes! Haha--not the most appropriate thing to do at the graduation--but I was starving!

Dan's mom and sister flew in to help host Jae's baby shower. The hostess were my sisters, Dan's sisters, Bev, and my dear friends from FC --Kristen, Kristina, and Catie. We got the most sentimental gifts---almost every hostess made something for Jae---I feel blessed that she will have women like this in her life. Not only are all of these women of God--they are all super domestic! And we all know that Jae's momma will most likely not be making her burp clothes or slings anytime soon! We were so happy to have Dan's family here for a week of fun! It's hard to believe that this was back in October--wow how I have grown!!!

My Aunt Becky, Aunt JoNel, and Aunt Janene gave us a shower in Paris. We were so excited because it was a surprise to find out that we would have a Paris shower. They did such a sweet job--including the adorable cake!! I was able to see dear friends---friends I played volleyball with, my coach, friends that helped raise me in our church, and sweet family. We loved this shower!! Thank you to everyone!!

Birthing--who knew there was SO much to know?!?

We attended a birthing class a few weeks ago. We got there at 8:40 and didn't leave until 6:30pm!! But we loved it. Mm--maybe Dan didn't appreciate being the example for the labor positions. However this was hilarious to our group of about 25. We learned so much from the staff and the Douala that taught it. They went into detail about the entire process--even bringing in the anaesthesiologist-Baylor L&D has four of them and they ONLY work in L&D---meaning they are experts! We also learned that Baylor downtown is the only hospital in our area that has a level 3 nicu---which translates to me that they are GOOD with babies! We loved the staff we met and we can't wait to bring Jae into the world at Baylor. Plus it doesn't hurt that they have completely renovated the postpartum rooms (not pictured). Dan can't wait to turn on his flat screen!

Worthington Diaper Shower

My sweet friend Noemi got a few of the girls in our building and my sweet sisters together to give Jae a diaper shower. The impressive thing is that Noemi is getting her docterate and is a wife and a mother. How she had the time to do this--I have no idea! We have such sweet neighbors and we had such a good time with everyone--and were VERY thankful to see all the little diapers that I know Jae will need!!! Plus my mom just happened to still be in town from our mother/daughter/son weekend we had while poor Dan studied and wrote papers.

Baby Moon, and More!

We decided to take our "baby moon" to Beavers Bend. This is a state park that I grew up going to with my mom. As children we never camped, fished, or grilled out at the park because my mom didn't know how to do those things with 4 little kids---but my sweet mom would take all of of us to this park to run around and explore all day long. We lived a little over an hour away. We loved it!!! So when Dan heard that I thought it was a good place to go for a couple of days he was on board! He had fly fished there once before. We had never been together. We drove up and down the hills where I relived wonderful childhood memories of chasing rabbits and seeing deer. Nothing had changed---this trip we saw countless deer (including a buck), rabbits, spiders, and I loved every moment with Dan. We really enjoyed this trip ---we have decided to make this an annual trip---and Dan has decided to visit her multiple times during the year. The day before we left for our trip we went to Canton--or better known as 1st Monday. Dan had never been and I thought he might enjoy it--err--or enjoy the food. He actually found a cool little fishing gadget that both he and my mom got. My sisters ended up coming later that day and surprising all of us--fun day! I also got to see my friends new born baby girl in Tyler after our day of shopping in Canton. Enjoy the pictures!!

When I found out we were having a baby girl I kind of panicked. I feel really comfortable dressing and decorating for a little boy---but a girl!!??! I am one of 4 kids--3 of which are girls--we LOVE our make up---and we LOVE our clothing---and YES we LOVE our purses---but "baby girl" stuff is different. What was her nursery going to look like???!!!?? We do apartment life in Uptown Dallas. Which means we help host events for the Uptown community. I am not complaining at all--we have a fabulous apartment--but how was I going to make this guest apt. bedroom feel like a cozy and sweet nursery. Plus---I am not what you call a "pink" girl---I bet I only own 2 pink garments. I really like bright vibrant colors in combo with darks. I basically love all fall colors on steroids! It took me about 3 weeks to find her bedding---I finally found it online! I had gone to every baby store---and all of their bedding sent me straight into a sad mood---I just didn't like it. I knew Dan wanted her to have "some" pink and I wanted something dark--so we compromised! Isn't that what marriage is about. ;) However the price was NOT what I was willing to pay. So I started researching even more--I knew this was what we wanted. I finally found it on eBay for $150.00 CHEAPER! The actual store had posted a few of the sets on eBay---and yes they were brand new! I was so excited--I had my husband bidding for me at work---he had his office call to congratulate me when we won! So I had the bedding---then I knew I wanted to do something funky with old antiqued frames. I found a bunch of cool frames at different Hobby Lobby's in the DFW area. They ranged in prices from $4 each to $10.00. Yep--a $200 frame for $10.00!!! Shhh--it's called the BACK of the store---it's all damaged goods for cheap! I also knew what kind of bed I wanted for her. Something dark and I didn't want it to drop down--and I wanted it to be able to transition from crib/day/twin (though we probably will just use it for all the babies). After looking for WEEKS/MONTHS for a good price--we found a set that I had wanted from day one at store that honors competitors! When we bought it they said it wouldn't be here until October 27th! I was so sad---but thrilled we got it for the price we wanted. I knew I could wait for what I really wanted. However--we received a call last Saturday that it came in early! We picked it up yesterday and Dan had it built by the time we went to bed! He is amazing!

I have been sick for about a week with an upper respiratory infection--that included a nasty nasty cough. I had no clue I was that sick--I knew Friday I didn't feel well---but thought it was just allergies. I worked Monday but Tuesday I knew I wasn't ok. After going into his office my OB had me go to the Baylor OB triage to make sure I didn't have H1N1 on Tuesday night. On a positive not we were able to hear Jae's heart beat for about 4 hours!! I was in a private "curtained" room between two women that were expecting and DID have the flu. I can't imagine --I immediately started praying for them and for Jae. I am so thankful that I do not have it. Now trying to protect me against the disease is tricky because every office I call on HAS had the FLU in their office at least once that week and most that day! Yuck!! Even wearing a mask doesn't prevent the particle size from entering the lung. I did cherish getting to go in my Ped's offices and seeing all the cute little chubby sick kids---now I am terrified of them! Please pray for Jae's protection and for my deicisons--I would NEVER want to put her at risk! I feel like the Lord has given us this most precious gift and we want to do all that we can to protect her. Just pray for my immunity and for the Lord's protection. My doctor had me out of contact with people for most of this week--just because my immune system was so low and I was super sick--I was in bed for 4 days all day. I took a double dosed Z-Pac (which I have a delayed rash allergy to) and it really helped me kick it! I will let you know if my face/neck rash actually shows up. Yesterday was the FIRST time this week I felt like getting dressed. So I begged Dan to take me out for just a few hours--you know--a girl needs to run errands!! But I had to be careful because I heard sneezing and coughing EVERYWHERE we were. I was a germ freak before---wait till you see me now! We dropped by his new office in Frisco, ate yummy Broc/cheese soup at Jason's Deli, did a few returns, and got our furniture! We were both BEAT by the time we got home---and I washed my hands and face like 10 times. We also have figured out an alternative closet situation for our little Jae. We were going to give her the guest room closet---but when my mom was in last she said "you know---this is a lot of room for Jae--maybe this should also house storage". What --combine my cute little girl's closet with storage--NO! Ha- I was against it at first--but then decided that was a brilliant idea! When you live in an apartment you get creative! Thanks mom!!! We will show you all of it once it's finished. Dan and I agreed that it has started to feel REAL ----we are going to have a baby!! I will be 26 weeks on Monday---and I can't wait to meet her! This is most of her bedding. I loved it! Also--yes those are butterfly wings AND a fish toy. Both of which her daddy wanted for her to have. How sad I thought--her ONLY toy thus far is a stuffed fish! But I love that he loves her so much to make sure she has what she needs. Even down to the fish toy--so they can relate! So cute!!

At the end of the day---the nursery has JUST begun....We will show the final result whenever that occurs. ;)

The Past Few Weeks..

The past few weeks have been quite full. I have included pictures from most of the events. First of all Dan transferred to the Frisco Campus to be a new Counselor for the Adult Ed students. He had a "going away" party that all of his department attended and they all said VERY sweet things about him (of course! He IS the best man on earth!). Then I participated in the Women's Expo in Dallas to get 30% at A Pea in a Pod. I did this so that I could save $100 off my pump--and other things that I wouldn't pay full price for! The next day we went to the Sarah and Pace's for Caiden's birthday party. We were only suppose to go for 2 hours after church---we ended up cancelling our plans and staying with them until about 9:30p.m.! We had such a great time and miss seeing them!! And for Labor Day we took off for Paris. We LOVE going to Paris with the family. A) I get to see y mom! B) Because we are always laughing C) Because who doesn't love small town Food!!!! D) We get to spend time with great friends. Enjoy the pics!

Busy Week

We really had a busy week. Starting last weekend we had dinner with friends followed by a pregnant slumber party with my friend Brianna. The next day I helped with her baby girl shower. That night Dan and I went to Home Depot and that is where I cut my finger. Sunday we had an AWESOME day --found a Sunday School class and made some great new friends! It was also my Granddad's 78th birthday! Monday Dan had his fishing boothe to run. Tuesday we had an apartment life event. Wednesday was my alumni game where I got to see girls that I haven't seen in years! Also last night was followed by my little brother going to the ER with his roomies. He wasn't feeling well and they are still running tests. Tonight Dan had class and I had work to do at home. And tomorrow it starts all over again! Life in the Gibson home is ALWAYS busy--but fun! We are just thankful to be alive and able to do what we do.

My friend Brianna called me earlier in the day and said that they would be in Dallas in a limo--did we want to go to dinner. I said YES--how fun---casual clothes and a limo!

The next day was Brianna's shower. So much fun to have another friend expecting. Especially when that friend reads EVERY baby book and has an NP as a best friend---all I have to do is call and she knows the answer! She is due in September with a precious baby girl Addison.

We were all hired at the same time and spent an entire month together in Orlando for training in July 08.

This is funny. We were looking at paint colors at Home Depot. I was walking by the new LG dryers and tried to open it the WRONG way. I cut my finger and filed a report. My husband thought it was equally embarassing as it was funny. I told him that a report would protect us if my finger fell off---he just laughed.

My roommate from college Leah--we met our first day at volleyball practice---and never parted from one another---we had the best college experience EVER!

Another one of my teammates from DBU. Cara is now 2 weeks ahead of me. She too is having another baby girl! We were the coaches for the night since we coudln't play. But I was yelling the entire game!

Sweet Kim ---she is due the first week in December with ---yes---a baby girl. Kim and I met back while I was in high school at a church camp in New Mexico---Glorietta. Then we found each other in college again--small world in the Christian relm!

Karina and Kathy---I loved these girls at DBU. Kathy slept in our dorm room countless nights my freshman year. I played v-ball with Karina for a semester.

I LOVE Cathy! I played with her for 3 years---then she became our head coach my senior year.

The girls were practicing together before playing the new group of DBU players---who by the way are AWESOME!! Cathy built a great group of girls!

Dinner with Friends

We were able to have dinner with Kristen and Daniel on Tuesday night. We haven't had dinner with these friends since Emily was born. She is 10 months now! We are all very busy and they live about an hour away from us so it's been difficult to get together with them. We really missed them. Sorry Daniel didn't make any of the shots because of course Emily was my focus--ha!

Preparing for Baby--Registering, Bedding, and more!

I honestly thought that registering would be difficult but at least fun. I mean you are getting to pick out things your little baby will need and things that will help you be a better mother and father. Right?! When I registered at Target last week I was able to meet with a friend for about 30-45 minutes to look around and make some decisions on what Jae needed. That meeting was at least educational! I know things for baby have changed a lot in the past few years but I really would have loved doing this with my mom, Les, Bev, and Sarah. But my mom lives 2 hours away and I really wanted to get this task crossed off my list ASAP. So Dan and I ventured out on Thursday night alone to Babies R Us. This was an interesting event. The first thing we tried to register for were bottle nipples. Well I have NEVER EVER purchased bottles or nipples for the bottles--I still don't know what a "wide neck" bottle is?? Poor Dan tried to step in and help--but still we had NO clue what we were doing. This frustration prompted us to move on quickly to the items we knew more about-swings, monitors, and bouncers . After an hour of stumbling around the store --we were spent. Who knew this would be such a difficult task!?!

Then we spent last weekend looking at bedding and furniture. That was much more fun! I have looked at bedding every night for 2 weeks straight. Finally I found what I wanted--and thankfully Dan loved it as well. I think I have to like it considering I will be looking at it a lot. But our weekend was especially exciting when I found out that most stores honor competitors coupons! WHO KNEW??!!? We spend about 6 hours out in the car going from store to store. Have I mentioned how much I love my husband! We had a long yet productive day. We feel like we have a better handle on what we need and or want for our sweet baby girl. But honestly---as long as we have food, diapers, and place for her to lay her head I know the Lord will take care of us! Enjoy some of the pictures I was able to snap!

So I found out that most of these baby places honor competitors coupons!! Oh--they have a lot on their hands with ME and Coupons! I am the type of person that will take that to the extreme. We actually had one sales lady say " people you are killing me with these coupons". Now I didn't know how to take this--oh well--at least we know we can save A LOT!

Oh Dan---he loves little snuggly outfits for Jae. We had to make sure he kept his Dr. Pepper on hand so that he could endure this marathon of a day!

I was in the room alone until the tech was able to get the measurements he needed--he assured me everything looked great! I had asked him not to tell me the baby's sex until my husband was with me. I was so giddy just laying there by myself. What was it going to be----a boy or a girl????!!!!?????? This was one of my favorite moments.

After Dan was able to see the baby's sex......my mom stepped up to see. We thought it would be more special to invite my mom to the sonogram as well. We only wish Bev and Don could have been present!

I could not believe how excited I was! Especially since we were both in shock that we had just found out what we were having.

You bet----it's a girl. I was a little bit worried about Dan's response to this. But as soon as the tech said he was sure the baby looked good and it was a girl--Dan started smiling. Over the next hour he seemed nervous. I asked him why---he said he was scared to be the dad of a little girl. I assured him that she will think he hung the moon and that he will always make her feel safe. After that---wow---he showed his true feelings. Over our dinner date he said he HAD to go get her an outfit tonight. I was in shock. He first said something about getting "fairy wings" so she could play in them. WHAT??!? I was in shock yet again. He was so excited. As we were looking for what he called his "perfect first outfit" he spotted a pink barbie fishing pole. I am sure that is next on his list. In the mean time I found this adorable outfit! He said he is buying his first outfit online. HA-HA. Seriously too cute!!

While we were watching her move in my tummy---I thought she looked like she was playing volleyball. Dan of course said it looked more like she was casting and setting the hook. Either way she was very active. The tech told us she has long limbs and looked like a perfect baby. Either way---I am in love with this little girl!

We already love her more than she will ever know!! Thank you for all of your prayers today---they were felt and heard. I think this picture looks like she is eating chips and salsa! Ha-ha. Also I would have loved to have put a sono picture of the proof that she's a girl---BUT---her father will not let me show that online. He thinks it's inappropriate---how funny is that----he is already the ultra protective dad!

One of my FAVORITE presents----Don sent me flowers! I have not had flowers delivered to me in over 7 years--Dan and I agreed a long time ago to not spend money on that. Yes-I cried!!!!

Dan told me to pack for one night away---and that was it. Normally I do not like surprises---but I LOVED THIS ONE!!!! As you can see what a woman that is expecting might need: Books, Magazines, and Clementines!!

He booked a night for us in downtown Ft. Worth (which we have never spent much time). The hotel was called "The Ashton" and was so romantic--he even made sure there was a jacuzzi! I didn't want to leave--I actually begged him to just retire and stay there with me. Is it too early for that?

Yes he thought of everything---even late night snacks for me aka "the eating machine".

They lit our chocolate on fire---LOVED THIS MEAL. We went through 5 courses --and two of those courses were CHEESE alone! Pure Heaven!

I didn't eat the marshmallow but I know that Landon would have LOVED it!

A fabulous breakfast in bed!! They gave us a $40 free breakfast for my birthday---this was an amazing hotel. It was in old historic downtown Ft. Worth and only had 39 rooms total--so customer service was perfection!

The Truth-4.5 years and 4.5 months

My husband and I have been married for 4.5 years. We are the most compatible couple I have ever known. He is calm when I am dramatic. He is neat and orderly and I am --mmmm--let's just say funky and clutter-some. I love rock concerts and he loves quiet afternoons at a park. He has to turn my music down when he gets in my car, and I turn his up!! He likes to edit and I like to post (and no I did not edit this before I posted-and my mom was and english teacher). I would be happy as long as everything in the house was sanitary-he would be happy as long as it's neat and orderly. My sweet wonderful husband is any woman's dream man (watch it-- he's taken!!). He is the hottest thing I have ever seen, he loves the lord with all of his heart, and he cooks and cleans! We do actually have things in common. We are both completely and utterly competitive ( I am a little bit more than him). We both love playing sports. We both put God and family before anything else. Both enjoy spending all of our free time just being together. The one thing that took me the longest time seeing eye to eye with him on was when to start our family. A little over a year ago Dan told me he was ready to start our family. I laughed---and then gave him that look like "are you crazy??". He was in his 1st year of his MBA and I had just felt called to go back into sales. I confessed that I didn't think we were ready. But over time, after spending lots of time praying and planning we started to prepare for this baby. I love kids---you can ask anyone. I was the Nursery Volunteer Coordinator at a very large church. This means I heard LOTS of crying 4 services each weekend, changed LOTS of diapers, and still LOVED seeing those cute little babies each weekend. I LOVE cute, fat, pinch-able babies. And on that you can ask my niece and nephews ;). But I also knew the reality of how difficult it was going to be. So- I started planning about 8 months ago. I know that sounds like a crazy person to plan so early, but I knew mentally I would need that prep. I knew Dan would graduate in Dec 09, I knew I would be at a good point in my career, and I knew that we would have found the perfect size living space for our family. What I didn't know is that I would need even more prep physically. NOONE and I mean NOONE told me how hard it is being pregnant. My mom always told me that it was hard having a baby, but didn't go into a lot of detail about the 9 months prior. And I am thankful that I didn't know what I know now. Because I would have felt the need to wait even longer. I understand that every woman is different. But I used to pride myself on trying to be the best and being that athlete that can endure all. I played volleyball on a broken shoulder for over a year in college---I need some credit. BUT thus far into my 4.5 months of pregnancy it has been the hardest thing I have ever had to endure in my life. I found out I was pregnant at 4.5 weeks in April 09. We hadn't exactly planned to start until July 09-but we were both thrilled to find out the news (I will tell how I told Dan one day). So at 4.5 weeks we were not telling anyone until 7 weeks. We had just always heard you should wait to tell. So no one knew until Mother's Day weekend (I will also blog about how we told our family later). At about 6 weeks I started getting severe nausea all day long. I have a job where you have to look, dress, speak, and act the part of an "super professional". I got up each morning puking my guts out (literally I would think how did I just have anything left), drink enough ginger-ale to get me through trying to fix my hair in a bun, put make up on, put a suit on/bronze my pale face, and just in time to get sick again before leaving the house. I finally got on Zophran after the other pill just made me tired and nauseous. Working with morning sickness was more difficult than all my 4 years of "3 a days" from college combined. I took a pill every day until June 28th. Yes I was counting!! While on vacation I was able to stop the pill but then I started getting headaches. I have learned to cope with them--but working with a migraine is like pulling teethe. There have been about 3 days the past 2 weeks that I didn't get one. But now that I am 4.5 months expecting---I have getting severe migraines each day. I think that it is all from my sinus issues (I was due to have sinus surgery last October but never had the time to do it). And guess what---I have now have been diagnosed with a sinus infection--yip pee! I hate to complain---but I just had no clue what some expecting moms go through. I hope and pray that these pregnancy issues go away soon. I just have no idea about this stuff. I have a new found respect for all mom's, but especially those mothers that went through a horrible first few months. But in the mean time I have the most amazing man by my side helping me through it all. This baby has the most self sacrificing Daddy in the world!!
